Title page in red and black with copper engraved letterpress; full page copper plate immediately after the title page with Ferrara’s coats of arms; drop caps and endings in woodcut; hundreds of woodcut representations of coins in the text and 4 full page tipped in wooducts. Bellini’s most important work, the famous treatise On the coins of Ferrara, the result of more than ten years of study and work. In it, the history of the Ferrara mint is widely described in all its vicissitudes from Frederick Barbarossa to Pope Clement XI, on the basis of a truly remarkable documentation and with extreme precision: only on a few occasions the illustration does not correspond to the description of the text or the coin is not reproduced exactly.
