Antonio de Viena. Full floppy vellum with handwritten titles on the spine, rustic cord bookmark; octavo, 20.6 cm; pp. (6) 224 (2); partially detached endpapers, slightly damaged verso of the title page due to removal of the old ex-libris, restoration with transparent tape on the second title page, some burnished paper, rare and slight halos, overall good copy. Title page in decorated frame, followed by Queen Maria Luisa Borboun’s coat of arms always in frame, followed by dedicatory in frame and further title page in frame surmounted by archbishop’s coat of arms, text in Spanish framed in double thread, woodcut ends, 40 full-page engraved copper plates, all framed and engraved by Benoit Thiboust (as indicated on the second title page). First edition, rare on the market, of this hagiographic work on San Turibio de Mogrovejo, inquisitor and archbishop of the city of Lima. Apologetic work towards the then blessed (beatification proclaimed four years before this publication), which makes use of a conspicuous (and then unpublished) iconographic apparatus composed of forty full-page plates, mainly relating to the work of evangelisation carried out by the Saint in the land of Peru
