In Venetia, appresso Gion Bat. Ciotti. Fine binding in early 17th century full leather, pretty gilt floral decorations in double fillets at the corners and in the middle of both boards, gilt fillets and little decorations on the spine also, title on a modern leather label on the spine, raised bands, golden fore-edges; quarto, cm 25,3 x 18,5; leaves (3b) (5) 117 (1) (3b); missing the a6 leaf (with the Author’s portrait), slight little halo in the internal corner of almost all the leaves, overall a very good copy. Ex libris “Ex Bibliotheca Nicolai Joseph Foucault” (famous bibliophile and Louis XIV’s official) at the first endpaper, North Library label at the first blank, ex libris J-J. S. Bibliophile at the second blank, hot stamped “Artbiblio Paris” stamp at the verso of the third blank, Earls of Macclesfield’s hot stamped coat of arms on leaves a1, a2 and a3, full page copper engraved title page with allegorical figures and Gonzaga coat of arms, engraved initials, text in italics on two column, the argument of each book in floral frame. First Udine’s edition, here offered in a very nice binding and with two important provenances
