Di Domenico Vincenzo Chendi – 1775. In Ferrara, nella Stamperia Camerale. Full coeval limp cardboard, with handwritten on the spine, visible bands on the boards; quarto, cm 22,8; pp. (2b) (2) 322 (1) (1b); a water stain at the external edge of the front board and the the first 110 leaves and the last ones, text block a bit weak but still bound, a few minor wormholes at the white edge of the last three leaves overall a fair to good copy. A full page portrait of the Author at the frontispiece, engraved by Giuseppe Mandolini; a few small engraved initials. Author’s handwritten ownership note on the title page. One of the scarcest and most important works on agriculture in Ferrara, written by a vicar from Tresigallo. Although some times this work has been presented as a first edition, actually it is an enlarged and amended second edition of “Il vero campagnuolo ferrarese”, published in 1761. This is also explained in the notice to the readers at leaf A. The book itself is rather interesting, especially in regards to some very particular recipes, such as the “salama da sugo”. At the end of the volume, a short life of Chendi, written by himself. This particular copy, even though a bit weak, is enriched by the Author’s handwritten ex-libris
