Nineteenth-century half leather with golden titles and fillets on the spine, marbled boards; octavo, 20.5 cm; cc. (1b) (8) 66, 40, 50, [51-81], pp. 56, 64, cc. (1b); very slight blemish on the boards and a couple of woodworm holes on the spine, lower headband partially detached, slight restoration at the outer edge of the title page of the first part of the first work, very rare light blooms and a slight blue halo at the lower edge of most of the volume, more than a good copy though. Each title page (four for each of the parts of I Marmi, one for the Libro della Memoria, one for the Libro dell’Eloquenza) with the printer’s brand in woodcut, headlines, talking caps and endings in woodcut, text almost always in italics, a total of 71 allegorical woodcuts on 1/3 page between all four parts of I Marmi. Beautiful assembly of the second edition of I Marmi, the second of the Libro della Memoria and the first edition of the Libro dell’Eloquenza. This refined combination offers us the second illustrated of I Marmi, printed by Bertoni, in which each part of the work is dedicated to a different personality, in the form of dialogues with a literary and moral theme. Il Cancellieri, on the other hand, are both by the Giolito’s family, although the Libro della Memoria is in its second edition while that relating to eloquence in its first edition
